A Dairy Diary

Life on a modern dairy farm is quite different from most people's lives. Some things never change - the cows, the fields and the views, and the weather never quite being what we'd like. But some things change all the time - the price we get for our milk, who we're selling it to and what we're expected to be like as farmers.

The number of farms is lower than it has ever been in the history of England - there are now fewer than 10,000 dairy farms in total. Farms are having to get bigger and bigger, just to make enough money - the days when all the cows had a name and you knew them all have long gone, I'm afraid.

But it's still a good life. We live in a beautiful part of the country, doing something we all love. And we'll share some of it with you in this diary.

If you want to find out for yourselves what it's like at Coole Hall Farm, we'd love you to stay with us as a guest in our B&B - call us or send us an email!
